Welcome to #smallbusinesssaturdays with @twinmamawama! This week I am highlighting Boards by Nic. Boards by Nic specializes in creating cheese and charcuterie boards (she wants you to know that charcuterie is strictly meat! This is why she will never refer to BBN as just a “charcuterie board” business). The first time I saw a picture of one of her boards I literally just said “wow”. She brings the wow factor, and she brings it hard.
Boards by Nic had a modest start. She was always in charge of buying different ingredients for boards, designing, and bringing them to any family or friend functions. But…this was her passion. She saw how much joy her boards brought her close circle, and wanted to share that joy with a broader audience. So, in late 2020, she established her Instagram account @boardsbynic and began showcasing her work. She wasn’t expecting her business to take off, but the result was instantaneous. Immediately inquiries for holiday orders started pouring in. Date night orders. New Years Eve orders. Everyday orders. Special occasion orders. Orders for one. Orders for a crowd. The results were delicious. Food porn to the max.
Then came Valentine’s Day. Nicole was able to showcase her creativity by also offering dessert boards. If you can think it, folks, Nicole came make your vision come to life. Valentine’s Day was her biggest venture to date, and she handled it beautifully. I am excited to watch her thrive.
Nicole’s favorite part about her business, along with being able to nourish her creative juices, is bringing people together over good food. She loves getting feedback from her customers; not only about how gorgeous her boards look, but about how her customers love the combinations she chose.
What’s next for Boards by Nic? A store front. When asked what she would do if she won the lottery, Nicole’s answer has always been “open a cheese shop”.
