Small Business Saturdays: Crosby’s Coffeehouse

Welcome to the first of many #smallbusinesssaturdays! I have so many entrepreneurial minded friends, and I cannot wait to show off their businesses. I want to use this platform to help raise others up, and what better way to do that than to highlight passion projects!

First up, we have Crosby’s Coffeehouse, a #womanownedbusiness located in Wrentham, MA. Crosby’s is owned by my friend Meaghan. Meg is a fellow infertility warrior; she is a bold, fierce, Mama of two beautiful little girls (pictured below at their home away from home). She stands up for what she believes in, and has the courage to leave things that no longer serve her. Like her 9-5 that she quit to take this business on. She is very active in her community, which can be seen all over the coffeehouse. Small vendors precious work lines her shelves, and fliers and business cards her countertops. In the heart of Wrentham, she wanted to create a place where everyone feels welcome to stop by for a cup of coffee and stay a while. (Covid had other plans and they are currently take out only…but that “stay a while, unwind, and enjoy life and your coffee” feel is omnipresent at the shop.) Meg has a “connect vs. compete” mentality; while running their own small business, she supports other small businesses. It is so refreshing.

She’s also been through some hard shit in her life. Crosby is the namesake her her late son who was born sleeping. I think that it’s beautiful he lives on in the shop, and I think of him every time I enter. Inside the store there is a Pay it Forward board and I think of it as Crosby’s heart; still giving. If you forgot your wallet, your card won’t scan, you’re short on cash but need a delicious coffee, that Pay it Forward wall will be your savior. Just don’t forget to pay it forward when you are able.

Now, let’s get to the coffee. Delicious. I’ve only ever had their iced decaf, and I ask the friendly baristas to make something iced, decaf and special when I go in. My favorite drink I have gotten was an iced decaf with a pump of hazelnut and the sugar cookie sweet cream. I lovvvve the sweet creams they make! I want to try all the food options because they look soooo goooood, but every time I walk through the door I must get a bagel. Right now I am into the everything bagel with cream cheese. The avocado toast looks lit, and they just added 3 cheese grilled cheese to their menu that I want to try. The drink of the week this week is a Chocolate Covered Strawberry Latte, which they can do decaf, and in the spirit of Valentine’s Day I just had to try. I’ve also had their cheesecake and muffins and I am a huge fan. Just can’t kick their bagels right now, though! They’re so different and so good. They also serve delicious teas, lemonades, hot cocoa, and that matcha thing everyone is talking about that I still don’t know what it is.

Also, if you need to pick up a gift and a great coffee, you can take care of both tasks at Crosby’s. You can pick up a Do Good candle, encouraging stickers, Maine maple syrup, mints, gum, chap stick canvas tote bags, seasonal gifts and bags of fresh roasted beans and ground coffee. You can also find jewelry from local designers, wood work from local craftsmen, baked goods from local bakers, and the list goes on. I love stopping in, and shopping around. Seeing what local talent is being displayed. For Christmas this year I shopped local and got the coffee and chapstick as gifts. The coffee got rave reviews and is long gone. I just picked up a bag of the Hazelnut to share with my mother in law and enjoy once Bentley arrive.
